IMCTC receives a Delegation from the National Defense University of Islamabad

​​​The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition received a delegation from the National Defense University of Islamabad, during which the visiting delegation received a briefing on IMCTC’s key achievements across counter-terrorism domains. The briefing also covered IMCTC’s strategy in implementing its counter-terrorism initiatives, its role in countering extremism and coordinating all efforts to confront terrorist tendencies through initiatives across ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing and military domains, and its effort in coordinating and intensifying member state’s efforts. Further, the delegation also familiarized with the latest developments and updates regarding terrorist incidents and groups around the world and IMCTC’s role in keeping a close eye on these developments.  

During his meeting with the visiting delegation, the Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC is founded on the values of legitimacy, autonomy, coordination and participation and seeks to ensure that all its efforts and actions are in line with international laws, norms and regulations. 

During the Q&A time with the military delegation, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that the methods of dealing with terrorist groups constantly keep evolving in line with the technological advances. He underlined the importance of the ideology component as the key and most important pillar in countering terrorism, then comes countering their communications networks, malicious messaging. The next part is to cut off their financial sources that might provide them with the funding needed for carrying out their criminal schemes and coordination of military efforts that take into account the sovereignty of member countries affected by terrorism.

It is worth noting that the visit is part of the joint cooperation between IMCTC and its Member States meant to strengthen the partnership in exchanging expertise aimed at defeating terrorism.
