IMCTC Secretary-General and Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff Discuss Issues of Common Concern

The IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi received at IMCTC HQ, H.E. Chief of Army Staff of the Republic of Bangladesh, Gen. SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, issues of common concern to IMCTC and the Republic of Bangladesh were discussed. H.E. Lt. Gen. SM Shafiuddin was also briefed in detail about IMCTC's counterterrorism efforts in the four (ideological, communications, counterterrorist-financing and military) domains, and to the role IMCTC plays in coordinating and intensifying the efforts of its member countries.

Then H.E. and his accompanying delegation made a tour around the premises of IMCTC HQ, met with the delegates of various IMCTC member countries, and were introduced to the latest developments and updates on terrorist groups and events around the world and to the monitoring and follow-up mechanisms that IMCTC adopts in this regard.

H.E. Chief of Army Staff of the Republic of Bangladesh praised the efforts that the IMCTC exerts in the various counterterrorism domains and the strategic methodology it follows to implement the mechanisms to confront extremist groups, and the great role the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the HQ country – plays to counter terrorism and fight all forms of violent extremism. He also commended the strong relations that exist between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Bangladesh.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi confirmed that the Republic of Bangladesh is one of the countries that joined the Coalition on the date of its creation as it believed in the necessity of standing against whatever might incite, adopt, or embark on violent extremism. He noted that the Republic of Bangladesh plays a major role counterterrorism and counter-violent extremism owing to its belief in the high principle renouncing violence and extremism and to its membership in many organizations and centers that are concerned with counterterrorism and counter-extremism.​
