In the presence of IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi as well as IMCTC member countries’ delegates, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Hejazi, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon’s delegate to IMCTC, delivered a presentation titled: “Media’s Role in Countering Terrorism.” Brig. Hejazi touched upon the importance of media in its various conventional and digital forms in countering terrorism and terrorist organizations and the need of figuring out the techniques used by such groups to spread their ideology and lure the youth to join their terrorist organizations through social media outlets. He further stressed the importance of countering such organizations by increasing the engagement of official media and making better use of social media in countering terrorist organizations and exposing their techniques.
The presentation is part of a series of symposiums, training sessions and workshops held by IMCTC for its member countries’ delegates as well as IMCTC Center’s staffers for the purpose of capacity building and exchange of best practices that help to enhance the efforts made to fulfill the IMCTC’s objectives in fighting violent extremism and terrorism.
IMCTC is a 41-nation alliance the member countries of which work together to coordinate their efforts in the global war against violent extremism and terrorism and join other international efforts to maintain international peace and security.
