IMCTC Secretary-General Receives a Delegation of Saudi Media officials

Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, IMCTC Secretary-General received on Thu. De.19, 2019, a Saudi media delegation representing various media organizations. The delegation was headed by HE Mr. Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The visiting delegation was briefed on IMCTC activities and initiatives in the areas of Ideology, Communications, Countering Terrorism Financing, and Military domains. Through these four counterterrorism domains, IMCTC aims to strengthen the cooperation and coordination among its member countries based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, participation and seek to ensure that all IMCTC member countries’ efforts are consistent with international law, rules and norms.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi further explained that IMCTC spares no efforts in establishing strategic relations with relevant media organizations to achieve the desired objectives of the communications initiatives on the ground, given that the media plays an important role in countering terrorism and violent extremism.

A panel discussion was later held during the visit titled: Media Handling of Terrorism Issues- Saudi Experience, presented by Dr. Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Subaihi, Saudi Arabia’s delegate on Communications to IMCTC, where he briefed the visiting delegation on the success stories of Saudi Arabia’s media practices in countering violent extremism and terrorism.

IMCTC comprises 41 member countries working together to coordinate their efforts to participate in the global war on violent extremism, terrorism and seek to join other international organizations working towards maintaining international peace and security.​
