IMCTC receives the Defense Minister of the Republic of Gambia

​IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, received on Thu. Feb. 20, 2020 at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh, the Defense Minister of the Republic of the Gambia, Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye, and the accompanying delegation. The Secretary-General welcomed the defense minister expressing his appreciation for his visit to IMCTC headquarters. 

The visiting defense minister got briefed on IMCTC efforts in countering terrorism and the role it plays in coordinating and enhancing its member countries’ efforts. Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi further explained that IMCTC has an integrated approach that brings together a set of initiatives in the ideology, communications, countering terrorism financing and military domains. These initiatives aim to enhancing cooperation and coordination among member countries and are based on the principles of legitimacy, autonomy, coordination and participation, while making sure that all IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts are conducted in line with international norms, rules and laws. 

For his part, the Gambia’s Defense Minister commended IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts, stressing at the same time the importance of joint cooperation and exchange of experiences and expertise with all parties engaged in the global war against terrorism and violent extremism. 

IMCTC is a forty-one-member organization in which all members work together to coordinate and redouble their efforts in the global war on violent extremism and terrorism and join other international efforts aimed at preserving international peace and security.
