IMCTC Secretary-General meets with both the State Minister for Defense Affairs and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates

The Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, met in Abu Dhabi, on Mon. Feb. 24, 2020, with both the UAE State Minister for Defense Affairs, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi and the Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi. During the meeting, both sides explored avenues of cooperation and deepening ties to accomplish the desired objectives in the fight against terrorism.  

Further, both sides discussed security issues of common interest pertaining to the latest developments both at the local and international levels between the United Arab Emirates and IMCTC.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi commended UAE’s efforts as an IMCTC member country and for its experiences and expertise in countering terrorism and violent extremism. The meeting was held at the sidelines of the UMEX, SIMTEX 2020 (Unmanned System Exhibition, Simulation & Training Exhibition & Conference) which was attended by delegates representing Arab, Muslim and other countries from around the world with a view to getting acquainted with latest defense systems’ technologies.

The visit is prompted by IMCTC’s keen interest in building strategic partnerships among its member countries, supporting nations and international organizations as well as deepening ties and cooperation with all countries for the purposes of capacity building, exchange of international best practices and information sharing in the areas of counterterrorism and joining other international efforts aimed at preserving international peace and security.
