The Acting IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, welcomed on Tuesday, 25th May 2021, His Excellency General Konstantinos Floros, Chief of Defence - Hellenic National Defence General Staff, His Excellency Alexis Konstantopoulos, Ambassador of Greece to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the accompanying delegation. IMCTC counter-terrorism efforts across the four domains (Ideology, Communications, Counter Terrorist Financing and Military) and the role IMCTC plays to coordinate and multiply member countries’ efforts were explained in detail to His Excellency General Floros. Avenues of joint cooperation between IMCTC and the Hellenic Republic were discussed as well during the visit.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi indicated that IMCTC represents an important military system that seeks to enhance military cooperation among member countries. Based on values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, and participation, IMCTC endeavors to ensure that all member countries’ counter-terrorism actions and efforts conform to international regulations, norms and laws.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi further stressed the significant and leading role the Hellenic Republic plays in countering terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms in the Mediterranean region and Europe, its membership in numerous regional and international organizations and its noble principle which renounces violence and extremism and believes in tolerance and brotherhood. In turn, His Excellency Chief of Defence - Hellenic National Defence General Staff paid tribute to the significant role which IMCTC plays in serving the interests of its member countries across the various counter-terrorism domains, noting the achievements of IMCTC in the fight against terrorism and violent extremist ideology as well as its various domains of action.
