IMCTC receives the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Saudi Arabia

The Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, received on Monday, January 2, 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Owais Haji Yusuf Ahmed of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Saudi Arabia and the accompanying delegation.

Over the course of the meeting, both sides discussed matters pertaining to counterterrorism, IMCTC strategic initiatives across ideology, communications, counter terrorist financing, and military domains.

Afterwards, Ambassador Owais toured IMCTC headquarters, got briefed on IMCTC's key studies, research, strategic initiatives on counterterrorism, extremist groups, as well as IMCTC monitoring and tracking such activities.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Owais commended IMCTC's role across counterterrorism domains and praised the crucial and leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Arab and Muslim causes, including the Federal Republic of Somalia, which will help bring peace and stability to the region.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC pursues its objectives based on strategic visions, a carefully crafted approach and driven by member states' genuine aspirations for putting an end to violence and extremism. He further highlighted the importance of Somalia's strategic location, and its influence in handling extremist groups in the Horn of Africa region. He concluded his remarks by saying that the presence of Somalia in IMCTC would positively enhance sharing of expertise, realization of gains that benefit both Somalia and the neighboring countries against terrorism and extremist groups.
