IMCTC received today, Wednesday, 3 May 2023, in its headquarters in Riyadh, HE, Lt. Gen. Eid bin Awwad Al-Shalawi, Commander of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf's Unified Military Command and his accompanying delegation. HE Lt. Gen. Al-Shalawi was received by IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and IMCTC Member Countries' Delegates.
HE, Lt. Gen. Al-Shalawi and the accompanying delegation received a detailed briefing on the IMCTC's efforts to counter terrorism, extremist ideology, and coordinate all member countries efforts to tackle terrorist tendencies through ideology, communications, counter-terrorism financing, and military initiatives.
Over the course of the visit, Lt. Gen. Al-Shalawi praised that the great efforts undertaken by IMCTC in the service of the Muslim world and international community at large, in countering the scourge of terrorism, violence and extremism, as a source of pride for all of us. He commended the leadership of the Kingdom in taking the lead in establishing this important Coalition. He further added that the Kingdom provides unlimited support to help counter terrorism and extremism in its all forms, shapes and manifestations. In the meantime, he commended the role played by IMCTC based on its strategic initiatives across the various counter-terrorism domains, including ideology, communications, counter-terrorism financing, and military.
For his part, IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, pointed out that IMCTC represents an integrated platform meant to strengthen cooperation among its member countries and is anchored on the values of legitimacy, autonomy, coordination, participation, and making sure that all the actions and efforts of its member countries are consistent with the international regulations, norms and laws.
It is worth noting that this visit is part of familiarizing the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf's Unified Military Command with mission and activities of IMCTC in countering terrorism and violent extremism.
