The Chief of Staff, Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, received at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh, Sunday, June 26, 2022, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the State of Qatar, AF/Lt. Gen. Salem bin Hamad Al-Nabit and the accompanying delegation, who were also received by IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi.

The meeting discussed avenues of joint cooperation between IMCTC and the State of Qatar on areas of common interests. Lt. Gen.  Al-Nabit received thorough briefing on IMCTC’s efforts across counterterrorism domains: ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing, and military, as well as its role in coordinating and intensifying its member countries’ efforts.

later, Lt. Gen.  Al Nabit and the accompanying delegation toured IMCTC headquarters facilities, met with several member countries’ delegates from various nations in the Muslim world, and got acquainted with latest developments on terrorist groups, incidents around the world as well as IMCTC's efforts in keeping track and monitoring of such groups. In the meantime, Lt. Gen.  Al Nabit commended IMCTC efforts in countering terrorism across the various domains as well as its strategic approach in dealing with extremist groups.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC is an important organization that strives to strengthen cooperation among its member countries, and is based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, complementarity and makes sure that all counterterrorism work and efforts are in line with international regulations, norms and laws. 

He further added that "terrorism is a scourge that requires concerted efforts of all countries and organizations to eliminate it by all means and methods."
"The means of dealing with terrorist groups keep evolving with the advances in modern technology and countering the ideology is the most important element, followed by tackling their communications tools, pernicious messages” he added. The Secretary-General concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of cutting of terrorist financing source to prevent them from carrying out their criminal activities and ultimately defeat them militarily.
